Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, DJ Smartz began learning the art of DJing at 15 as a skating rink DJ.

DJ Smartz was a b-boy during his time as a skating rink DJ and through battles with the crew Hypnotik Body Rock he was introduced to turntablism at the age of 17.

Smartz bought his first set of turntables at the age of 19 and from there has become one of the most prominent open format DJ's in Charleston and the surrounding areas.

Today, DJ Smartz has DJ'd at some of the hottest venues in Charleston, SC

(including Club Trio, Mynt Charleston, NV Dance Lounge, Silver Dollar, Snapper Jacks, King Street Public House, Ink N Ivy, Stars, and many more)

as well as Greenville, SC  (Vine Nightclub) and Asheville, NC (Timo's House, New Mountain AVL)

and has became a DJ for one of the biggest wedding DJ services in Charleston, OtherBrother Entertainment.

On the corporate level DJ Smartz has worked with various companies to DJ for major corporations, some including Yelp, Tommy Hilfiger, and Boeing.
